Islamabad (Staff Reporter)
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has said that Mahmood Achakzai and Nasir Abbas are their opposition leaders, whether officially notified or not. He made these remarks while addressing a national conference organized by the Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Aain Pakistan.
Barrister Gohar said that the absence of Omar Ayub is being deeply felt. He stated that they were not satisfied with the judiciary even before the 26th constitutional amendment and remain dissatisfied today. According to him, the only popular leader at present is the PTI founder, adding that PTI seats were snatched away, including the Haripur seat.
He further said that the public is still ready to launch a movement, but people will not come out for the government; however, they will definitely respond to a call by the opposition. Barrister Gohar also claimed that Omar Ayub has been sentenced to 50 years and Shibli Faraz to 40 years in prison.
The PTI leader reiterated that regardless of notification, Mahmood Achakzai and Nasir Abbas are their opposition leaders. He said the party would support them whether they opt for dialogue or protest. He added that there are currently 175 political parties in the country, 14 of which are represented in parliament, and that PTI is also willing to listen to Maulana Fazlur Rehman regarding the opposition leader issue.
