ISLAMABAD STAFF REPORTER

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ataullah Tarar stated that the 17-year sentence in the Toshakhana-II case will commence after the completion of the initial 14-year term

In a statement, Ata Tarar explained that the punishment pertains to fraud in which the value of received gifts was deliberately undervalued, resulting in financial loss to the state. He emphasized that the verdict was based on justice and transparency.

“The gifts were retained for personal gain, causing losses of 3 crore and 7 crore rupees to the state,” he added. According to the minister, both PTI Chairman Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were sentenced to 10 and 7 years respectively, following fraudulent undervaluation of state gifts.

The minister highlighted that the sentence ensures accountability for misappropriation of state resources and underlines the legal principle that public assets must not be exploited for personal benefit.
