Four terrorists sponsored by India and linked to the proscribed group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan attempted an attack on a security forces camp in Boya, North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The attack left four soldiers martyred, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The ISPR stated that one of the terrorists, a suicide bomber, detonated an explosives-laden vehicle against the Boya fort wall, causing a massive explosion. Eyewitnesses reported that the blast was heard as far as 25 kilometers away in Miranshah city.
Following the explosion, four to five terrorists tried to enter the fort but were thwarted by the timely action of security personnel. Three of the terrorists were killed on the spot, while the ISPR confirmed that all four terrorists associated with the group were eliminated. The soldiers martyred in the operation were Havildar Muhammad Waqas, Naik Khanwaiz, Sepoy Sufyan Haider, and Sepoy Rafat.
Initial reports indicated that the attackers managed to enter the premises and open fire, causing damage to the fort’s wall, nearby civilian properties, and a mosque. Fifteen local civilians, including women and children, were seriously injured.
The ISPR confirmed that immediately after the attack, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a clearance operation. Police and security personnel, along with bomb disposal squads and rescue teams from Rescue 1122, were deployed for assistance and evidence collection. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
The attack is believed to have been planned and directed by extremists based in Afghanistan, contradicting claims by the Afghan Taliban government regarding the absence of terrorist groups. This incident comes two months after a foiled suicide attack on a military camp in Mirali, North Waziristan, where four terrorists were killed.
