World Bank Approves $700 Million Funding for Pakistan’s Inclusive Development Program

Islamabad (Staff Reporter):

The Board of Executive Directors of the World Bank has approved $700 million in financial assistance for Pakistan under the Public Resources for Inclusive Development Multi-Phase Programmatic Approach (PRID-MPA). The funding aims to enhance economic stability and improve the delivery of public services across the country.

According to a statement released by the World Bank, PRID-MPA is a modern national program designed to support reforms at both federal and provincial levels. It focuses on increasing domestic revenues, improving expenditure quality, and enabling effective service delivery through data-driven and digital tools.

The program is aligned with ongoing fiscal reforms and complements Pakistan’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program with the IMF and the National Fiscal Pact. Overall, the MPA framework will provide up to $1.35 billion in financial assistance. Of this, $600 million has been allocated for federal programs, while $100 million is specifically approved for provincial programs in Sindh.

The program follows a results-based design, ensuring that funds are disbursed only when predetermined targets are achieved, thereby promoting accountability and effective utilization of resources.

PRID-MPA is expected to play a critical role in strengthening Pakistan’s fiscal framework, supporting sustainable development, and improving public sector efficiency.
