“PM Shehbaz Directs Power Division to Propose Recommendations for Reasonable Electricity Wheeling Charges”

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the Power Division to present recommendations for bringing electricity wheeling charges to a reasonable level through consultation with stakeholders. He emphasized that the government is fully focused on improving the electricity transmission system and ensuring industries receive electricity at competitive regional rates.

The remarks were made during a meeting of the private sector working group on energy reforms for economic growth, held on Monday under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister. According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office Media Wing, the meeting reviewed recommendations on energy sector reforms to support economic development.

The Prime Minister praised the efforts of the energy committee, led by Shehzad Salim, for engaging with the private sector. Discussions included tariff structures, transmission challenges, voltage system reliability, and other electricity-related issues.

The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Dr. Musadik Malik (Climate Change), Ahsan Iqbal (Economic Affairs), Muhammad Aurangzeb (Finance and Revenue), Atta Ullah Tarar (Information & Broadcasting), Ali Parvez Malik (Petroleum), Sardar Owais Ahmed Khan Laghari (Power Division), Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kiyani, Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Haroon Akhtar, and senior government officials.
