Lahore (Bureau Report)
Former Federal Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has expressed confidence that he will win his legal case, stating that he intends to proceed for Umrah. Talking to the media outside the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench, Sheikh Rashid said he had been stopped from travelling for Umrah after the government filed a petition against him.
He stated that the government had failed to submit its reply in the case, adding that the court has now scheduled the hearing after court vacations. Sheikh Rashid expressed hope that justice would be served and that he would be allowed to travel.
Earlier, a hearing was conducted on Sheikh Rashid Ahmed’s petition seeking permission to travel for Umrah, during which he appeared before the court along with his legal counsel. A divisional bench comprising Justice Jawad Hassan and Justice Raza Qureshi heard the case.
During the proceedings, the court removed objections raised on the request for an early hearing. The prosecution sought additional time to submit its reply, after which the court adjourned the hearing until after the judicial vacations.
