Rawalpindi (Court Reporter)
An appeal has been filed in the Lahore High Court’s Rawalpindi Bench against the indictment of Alima Khan in a case registered in connection with the November 26 protest.
The appeal was filed by Alima Khan through her counsel, Faisal Malik Advocate. A divisional bench comprising Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan and Justice Sultan Mahmood heard the matter.
During the proceedings, the registrar’s office raised an objection, stating that a certified copy of the FIR had not been attached with the petition. The court directed Alima Khan’s counsel to first complete the required documentation.
In the petition, it was argued that Alima Khan was indicted in her absence, which, according to the petitioner, is not legally valid. The court was requested to direct the trial court to complete the indictment process afresh in accordance with the law and after hearing the petitioner as required under legal provisions.
The court instructed the defence counsel to remove the objections raised by the registrar’s office and observed that the petition would be fixed for hearing once the objections are addressed.
