POLITICAL JI LEADER Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman Demands Timely Local Government Elections in Punjab

Leader of Political Jamaat-e-Islami, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, has called for the timely conduct of local government elections in Punjab, criticizing the existing provincial local government law as unjust and undemocratic.Addressing a ceremony in Lahore, Amir of Political Jamaat-e-Islami, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman said that the Punjab Local Government Act fails to ensure the transfer of authority to the grassroots level. He emphasized that real democracy can only be strengthened when powers are devolved to elected local representatives rather than remaining concentrated within the bureaucracy.


The Political JI leader Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman stated that bureaucratic officials should function as subordinates to local governments instead of acting as decision-makers. He stressed that empowering local institutions is essential for addressing public issues effectively.Political JI leader Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman further announced that Political Jamaat-e-Islami would launch a public referendum campaign across Punjab starting January 25, aimed at raising awareness about local governance reforms and the need to empower the people.

He reiterated that strengthening local government systems is vital for democratic stability and public participation in governance across the province.
