The Inspector General of Islamabad Police has dismissed a serving Sub-Inspector and Station House Officer (SHO) over serious allegations of blackmail, harassment, forced marriage attempts and extortion involving a lady doctor working in the federal capital.
According to official sources, the dismissed officer, former SHO of Lohi Bher Police Station Sohail Ashraf Kahot, was removed from service following a departmental inquiry ordered by DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq. The inquiry found the allegations made by the complainant to be true.
The complainant, a lady doctor originally from Sialkot, submitted a written application stating that she is a Hafiz-e-Quran and was working in Islamabad when she approached the police station seeking legal assistance. Instead of providing help, the then SHO allegedly began blackmailing her, threatening to implicate her in a criminal case that could affect her job and lead to her arrest, despite the fact that she is married and a mother of two infants.
The complaint further states that the officer repeatedly harassed her through WhatsApp messages over several months, pressured her to marry him, and extorted cash from her. When she was unable to pay further amounts, she allegedly handed over her gold jewelry to protect her family life and dignity.
Despite this, the accused officer allegedly forced his way into her flat by posing as a food delivery rider. During the incident, the victim’s husband arrived, after which the officer fled the scene. Evidence of the incident, including screenshots of WhatsApp messages, was presented to senior police officials.
Due to continuous harassment and mental distress, the lady doctor left Islamabad for Sialkot and remained away for over a month, even switching off her mobile phone. She also faced severe difficulties in her professional life during this period.
Following the inquiry, DIG Muhammad Jawad Tariq ordered the immediate dismissal of the officer from service. A senior police official stated that if the complainant submits a formal written request, a criminal case will be registered against the former SHO, leading to his arrest and recovery of the extorted cash, gold jewelry, and any other financial benefits obtained illegally.
The official added that further legal action, including charges related to harassment and mental torture, will be taken strictly in accordance with the law upon the complainant’s request.
