UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Arrives in Rawalpindi on First Official Visit to Pakistan

President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in Rawalpindi on his first official visit to Pakistan, where he was warmly received by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, along with federal ministers.

Upon disembarking from his aircraft, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed was greeted with a warm handshake by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. Children dressed in traditional attire presented flowers to the UAE president, adding to the welcoming atmosphere.

The UAE president and the prime minister exchanged cordial remarks on the occasion. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed was accorded a 21-gun salute, while JF-17 Thunder fighter jets escorted and saluted his aircraft as it entered Pakistan’s airspace.

A formal welcome ceremony was held in his honor at Nur Khan Air Base, where a smartly turned-out contingent of the armed forces presented a guard of honor, which the UAE president inspected. The national anthems of both countries were also played.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif introduced members of the federal cabinet to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, while the UAE president, in turn, introduced members of his delegation to the prime minister. Children holding the flags of Pakistan and the UAE welcomed the distinguished guest, with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed shaking hands with them and expressing affection.

During the visit, the UAE president is scheduled to hold a meeting with the prime minister of Pakistan, in which bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues will be discussed.
