Karachi (Bureau Report):
Federal Minister and MQM-Pakistan leader Mustafa Kamal alleged that an intoxicated Altaf Hussain had senior party leader Dr Imran Farooq—who had devoted 40 years to the party—killed on his birthday, calling it a “birthday gift” given on September 17, 2010. He said the founder of MQM is a drama-loving individual and alleged that Altaf Hussain ordered the killing of Imran Farooq, collected millions of pounds in donations to send the body back, and carried out terrorism in Pakistan using funds received from India’s intelligence agency RAW.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi along with party leaders, Mustafa Kamal said the so-called founder of MQM created an uproar over the body, despite allegedly being the killer himself. He claimed they possess evidence related to the murder and said that Altaf Hussain posed for photographs during the funeral prayers, adding that he “turns tragedies into performances.” Kamal said he had stopped speaking about him for the past one and a half to two years.
He reiterated that Dr Imran Farooq received a “gift of death” on his leader’s birthday, alleging that the killing was carried out specifically as a birthday offering. Addressing Altaf Hussain, he said that as a citizen there, he should demand justice for Imran Farooq’s murder. Kamal alleged that for 25 years Altaf Hussain had been receiving money from RAW and accused him of orchestrating terrorism in Pakistan. He further claimed that investigations by Scotland Yard into the Imran Farooq murder were stalled due to Indian RAW.
Mustafa Kamal said that this individual had pushed them back by 200 years and destroyed his city. He added that despite repeated shocks, God has not granted him the ability to repent, and repentance is not in his fate. He said that at one time, millions would come out within seconds on Altaf Hussain’s call. He termed the MQM founder a criminal and traitor to the nation, alleging that he has people killed at will and then publicly mourns them, claiming that “he has devoured the nation’s children.”

Kamal said the Urdu-speaking (Mohajir) community was extremely unfortunate to have such a criminal leader, asking how many people he had “consumed” over 40 years and alleging that he continues to do so. He said many matters had been kept hidden. Recalling Dr Imran Farooq’s murder, Kamal said he had gone there on behalf of the party and was present, alleging that the MQM founder only wanted photographs taken during the funeral prayers.
He said that had the founder wanted, a local government constitutional amendment could have been passed in five minutes, but instead he destroyed an entire generation of Mohajirs. Kamal questioned whether any strike had ever been called for constitutional amendments, calling the Mohajir community deeply unfortunate. He said Dr Imran Farooq’s children are now grown up, alleging that the same man who ordered the killing later mourned it.
Mustafa Kamal said that although he is a federal minister and had no personal need to raise these issues, he would condemn any position if it meant not raising a voice for the people. He advised Dr Imran Farooq’s children to stay away from this person in London and urged them to approach the courts and file a case for investigation into their father’s murder, adding that silence is mistaken for weakness.
He reiterated that this individual had pushed them back 200 years and destroyed education and moral upbringing. Kamal said he was ready to fully cooperate in arresting Imran Farooq’s killers. He alleged that Altaf Hussain destroyed Karachi but expressed hope that the city would be restored to its rightful place.
Responding to a question, Kamal said that a killer cannot explain who committed the murder, alleging that Altaf Hussain himself was responsible and was distorting history and truth. He said that what had been shown so far was only a trailer and challenged Altaf Hussain to come forward and speak.
He further alleged that this was the man who sold out the nation and the city, questioning past meetings with former interior minister Rehman Malik and asking why constitutional amendments were not secured at that time. Mustafa Kamal concluded by saying that Altaf Hussain should now remain silent.
