Senator Rubina Khalid, Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), has clarified that the SIM cards provided for the Social Protection Wallet are completely free of charge, with no deductions or fees permitted. She stressed that the SIM acts as a digital wallet and its protection is the responsibility of the recipient.

Senator Khalid made these remarks during a visit to a BISP camp site established at Government Jamia High School, Sheikhupura, on Monday. She highlighted that the program is named after the late Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, a courageous leader who made immense sacrifices for her country and its people. She encouraged women to draw inspiration from Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s struggle, stand firm against injustice, and assert their rights.

During her visit, Senator Khalid interacted with deserving women at the camp, listened to their concerns, and instructed officials present to ensure prompt resolution of any issues. She directed staff to maintain complete transparency in the distribution of free SIM cards and to strengthen awareness efforts so that eligible women are fully informed about their rights and can access their funds safely and with dignity through the Social Protection Wallet.

She reaffirmed BISP’s commitment to empowering women, promoting a transparent payment system, and ensuring accountability at every level.
