The final day for candidates to submit their nomination papers for local body elections in Islamabad is tomorrow (Tuesday), with polling scheduled for February 15, 2026.
According to the revised schedule issued by the Election Commission, the submission of nomination papers began on December 22 and will continue until December 30. The preliminary list of candidates is set to be published on December 31.
Returning officers will scrutinize the nomination papers from January 1 to January 6, 2026. Appeals against the acceptance or rejection of nominations can be filed from January 7 to January 10, with appellate tribunals expected to decide between January 12 and January 15.
The revised list of candidates will be published on January 16, and candidates can withdraw their nominations on January 17. Election symbols will be allotted on January 19, along with the publication of the final list of candidates. Polling will be held from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on February 15.
