Rain and Snowfall Forecast Across Pakistan, Landslide Alert Issued for Hilly Areas

Lahore (Bureau Report):

Rain and snowfall have been forecast in various cities across Pakistan, prompting authorities to issue alerts due to the risk of landslides in mountainous regions.

According to weather forecasts, rain is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan from today until January 1, while different areas of Punjab are likely to receive rainfall from today through January 2. Cities including Lahore, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and surrounding areas are expected to experience showers.

In Karachi, the season’s first winter rain is likely on December 30.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) stated that rain is expected tonight through January 1 in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, and Qila Abdullah. Other areas including Qila Saifullah, Noshki, Chagai, Harnai, Barkhan, Sibi, and Loralai are also likely to receive rainfall.

The PDMA further reported chances of rain in Musa Khel, Dukki, Gwadar, Hub, Lasbela, Kech, Awaran, and Panjgur, as well as Khuzdar, Kalat, Mastung, Kachhi, and Washuk. Rainfall is also expected in Kharan, Sorab, Zhob, and Sherani.

Additionally, snowfall is likely over the mountainous areas of Quetta, Ziarat, Kalat, Pishin, and other northern districts. Authorities warned that rain and snowfall may lead to a further drop in temperatures and increase the risk of landslides in hilly regions.

Citizens and travelers have been advised to take precautionary measures, especially in vulnerable mountainous areas.
