Another Petition Filed in Lahore High Court Against Punjab Protection Ownership Act and Ordinance

Lahore (Bureau Report)

Another petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court challenging the Punjab Protection Ownership Act and Ordinance.

The petition was submitted by Abdullah Malik and Munir Ahmed through Advocate Azhar Siddique. The Punjab Government, Chief Secretary, and Secretary Law have been named as respondents in the case.

The petition contends that granting administrative authorities powers related to property disputes under the new law is illegal and unconstitutional. It argues that allowing the administration to exercise powers traditionally held by civil courts violates the Constitution.

The petitioners have requested the court to declare the Punjab Protection Ownership Act and Ordinance, along with all actions taken under them, null and void. They also sought the reversal of all proceedings conducted under the new law so far.

Furthermore, the petition calls for an immediate halt to the functioning of committees and tribunals formed under the Act and Ordinance.
