Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Meets National Workshop Participants, Emphasizes Security, Education, and Regional Cooperation

PESHAWAR (Bureau Report)

Participants of the 18th National Workshop from Balochistan visited Governor House Peshawar and met with Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi. The Governor welcomed the delegates and extended New Year greetings.

During the meeting, participants asked questions on provincial security, higher education, counter-terrorism measures, and the utilization of natural resources. Governor Kundi highlighted the shared culture between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, noting that both provinces face security challenges due to their proximity to the Afghan border.

He stressed that while the KP Police is a brave and professional force, it has not received sufficient funding, weapons, or resources to effectively combat terrorism. He warned that political disputes should remain within their domains and that intelligence-based operations are critical to ensure lasting peace.

Governor Kundi also addressed other provincial challenges, including the impact of climate change, the need for reforms in education, and underutilization of local energy resources. He noted that a budget of PKR 4 billion had been allocated for 34 public sector universities in KP, emphasizing that adequate funding is essential to achieve educational outcomes.

Highlighting the role of youth, Governor Kundi said educated and capable young people are the nation’s greatest asset, capable of driving progress. The workshop delegation was led by Brigadier Bilal Ghafoor and included students and faculty members from Balochistan universities.
