Lahore High Court Makes Biometric Verification Mandatory to Prevent Fake Cases in Punjab

Lahore (Bureau Report):
In a major step to curb the filing of fake cases and enhance judicial transparency, Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC), Justice Aalia Neelum, has initiated the implementation of a comprehensive plan aimed at preventing fraudulent litigation across Punjab.

The Lahore High Court has issued an official notification making biometric verification mandatory in the district judiciary throughout the province. Under the new directive, biometric verification will be compulsory before filing any case in district courts across Punjab.

According to the notification, biometric verification will be required for petitioners, respondents, and all parties involved in a case. The measure will also apply to individuals submitting surety bonds and those recording statements before the courts.

The notification states that the biometric verification requirement will come into effect from January 20, 2026. The initiative is aimed at preventing impersonation, discouraging false litigation, and ensuring greater transparency and credibility in judicial proceedings.

The notification was issued following the approval of Chief Justice Aalia Neelum and was formally released by the Director General of the District Judiciary of the Lahore High Court. Copies of the notification have been circulated to session judges and other relevant judicial authorities across the province to ensure uniform implementation.

Judicial officials believe the move will significantly strengthen accountability within the legal system and help restore public confidence in the judicial process.
