Dr Yasmin Rashid Challenges May 9 Convictions in Lahore High Court

Lahore (Bureau Report)

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Dr Yasmin Rashid has filed appeals in the Lahore High Court against the sentences awarded to her in three separate cases related to the May 9 incidents.

Through her counsel, Advocate Rana Mudassar Umar, Dr Rashid contended that the trial court handed down convictions without properly assessing the facts of the cases. The appeals argue that the trial was concluded in haste and the sentences were imposed unlawfully, in violation of the principles of justice.

Dr Yasmin Rashid has requested the Lahore High Court to set aside the convictions in all three cases. She has further sought suspension of her sentences until the final decision on the appeals.

The appeals pertain to cases registered at Gulberg, Nasirabad and Race Course police stations in connection with the May 9 incidents.
