Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Singapore, Rabia Shafiq, inaugurated a major art exhibition by renowned Pakistani-American artist Anila Qayyum Agha. The exhibition, titled “Anila Qayyum Agha: The Unraveling”, is being held at the Sundaram Tagore Gallery. According to a press release issued on Sunday, the exhibition highlights themes of cultural dialogue, humanity, and our connection with nature. Diplomats, educators, and art enthusiasts attended in large numbers.
The exhibition features light-based installations, colorful collages, and intricate embroidered artworks, each reflecting unique stories connected to history, memory, and contemporary social realities. In her speech, High Commissioner Rabia Shafiq praised the depth and diversity of the artworks, noting that Anila Qayyum Agha presents themes of cultural identity, human interaction with the natural world, and individual and collective experiences in a thought-provoking manner.
Special recognition was given to her “Cabinets of Curiosities” series. The High Commissioner appreciated the efforts of the Pakistani-American artist and the Sundaram Tagore Gallery team, thanking attendees and emphasizing the importance of cultural dialogue and public engagement. The exhibition will continue until January 23.
