Islamabad (Staff Reporter):

According to the announcement made by Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Pakistan, Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad, the moon of Shaban was not sighted anywhere in Pakistan on Tuesday.

As a result, the first day of Shaban-ul-Muazzam 1447 Hijri will be observed on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.

The chairman reviewed moon sighting reports in Islamabad along with central and zonal committee members, technical experts, and prominent religious scholars from all schools of thought. The meeting was organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs at the rooftop of the Kohsar Block.

According to the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, no testimony of the Shaban moon sighting was received from any part of the country. Consequently, Shab-e-Barat will be observed on February 3, 2026.

Earlier, astronomers had predicted that the chances of sighting the Shaban moon on January 19 were extremely low. Similarly, SUPARCO had also forecast that the first of Shaban would likely fall on January 21.
