Gul Plaza Tragedy: Death Toll Rises to 71, 90% of Search Operation Completed, Sindh Government Announces Rs. 10 Million Aid for Families

Karachi (Bureau Report):
The death toll in the Gul Plaza incident in Karachi, Sindh, has risen to 71. The building has been 90% cleared, with only 11 missing out of the total 82 victims. South DC Javed Nabi Khuso confirmed that the search operation is expected to be completed tonight. With the help of snarkel equipment, rescue teams re-entered the upper floors, but the search operation in the most sensitive parts of the building has yet to begin.

According to Police Surgeon Dr. Samia, 16 bodies have been identified, and the DNA process is complicated due to severe burning of the remains. The process for disbursing financial aid to the families of the deceased has begun. Details of eight victims’ families have been completed, and the Deputy Commissioner South has forwarded their cases to the Sindh government for assistance. The Sindh government has announced that each family of the deceased will receive Rs. 10 million in aid.
