Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held an important meeting with the US Ambassador to Pakistan, Natalie Baker, during which both sides discussed expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest and further strengthening Pakistan–US relations.
According to the Ministry of Interior, detailed discussions were held on enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly to curb illegal immigration and improve the pre-immigration clearance system. The two sides also agreed to increase cooperation at all levels with law enforcement agencies, especially the police.
During the meeting, a key decision was taken to launch joint operations under comprehensive standard operating procedures (SOPs) against networks involved in fake visa activities. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi reiterated that the government has adopted a “zero tolerance policy” against agent mafias and those facilitating illegal migration.
He welcomed US support in this regard and stated that he is personally overseeing operations against fake visa networks. He further said that Pakistan’s passport has been made foolproof through the use of modern technology.
Terming illegal immigration a serious issue, Mohsin Naqvi said that a strict crackdown is underway against those attempting to reach the United States through illegal means. He added that effective government measures have resulted in a 47 percent reduction in illegal immigration. He emphasized that individuals involved in preparing or facilitating fake documents deserve no leniency.
US Ambassador Natalie Baker reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to its relationship with Pakistan, stating that the United States attaches special importance to its ties with Pakistan. She said that shared priorities and expanded cooperation would further strengthen bilateral relations.
