Islamabad (Staff Reporter):
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has lauded individuals associated with education and training, emphasizing that Pakistan’s talented youth are a valuable national asset. He stated that providing them with the best opportunities for education, training, and skill development remains a top priority for the government.
In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office on the occasion of Global Education Day, the Prime Minister highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to honoring educators, students, parents, teachers, and researchers who are actively contributing to the promotion of knowledge and learning across the country.
This year, Global Education Day is being observed under the theme “The Power of Youth in Co-creating Education,” reflecting the importance of involving young people as active partners in shaping a modern, innovative, inclusive, and effective education system.
The Prime Minister said that the creative potential and innovative aspirations of the youth will guide the education system toward progress. He stressed that Pakistan’s skilled youth are a national treasure, and the government is committed to providing them with high-quality education, skill development, and professional training opportunities. He noted that the Constitution of Pakistan, particularly Article 25-A, continues to guide federal and provincial governments in promoting educational reforms.
Highlighting the modern, interconnected, and technology-driven world, he stressed that critical thinking, creativity, digital literacy, ethical values, and practical skills are essential for both individual and national development. The government is implementing programs to strengthen higher education and skill development, including expanded scholarships, merit-based financial assistance, and the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme. These initiatives aim to enhance students’ access to digital resources, research capabilities, and global knowledge and economic opportunities.
An important aspect of empowering youth, the Prime Minister said, is the promotion of technical and vocational education and training, ensuring skills align with national priorities and global opportunities. Under the Prime Minister Youth Skills Development Program, the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission is offering targeted, effective training programs across the country. Emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, automation, and modern technologies are included in these skill-building initiatives.
Special programs for women focus on technical, digital, and home-based skills to promote economic participation and self-reliance. Efforts are also underway to integrate madrassa students into the national skill development framework, enabling them to access dignified employment and entrepreneurial opportunities.
On Global Education Day, the Prime Minister urged all educational institutions, students, teachers, parents, and civil society to work together to create an educational environment that fosters quality learning, inclusivity, diligence, research, innovation, and lifelong learning. He emphasized the government’s commitment to shaping a system that nurtures the potential of every individual, promotes equality, and prepares future generations to lead Pakistan toward peace, stability, prosperity, and progress.
