As part of the Punjab Inspector General’s Community Policing Program, students from various universities and colleges visited the Traffic Headquarters in Race Course, Rawalpindi, under the “Friends of Police” initiative.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi, Farhan Aslam, welcomed the participants and addressed them, stating, “From today, you are ambassadors of the City Traffic Police. You must not only follow traffic rules yourselves but also encourage your family, friends, and community members to do the same and demonstrate responsible citizenship.”
Following the CTO’s directives, the in-charge of the Education Wing gave the students a detailed briefing on the state-of-the-art licensing system, the online learner system, and other facilities introduced under the initiatives of the IG Punjab and DIG Traffic. The session also covered key aspects of the City Traffic Police’s Road Safety Program.
Students were then taken on a guided tour of various departments within the Traffic Headquarters and were provided with a comprehensive overview of their operations. As part of the visit, they also participated in a live broadcast on FM 88.6, where they shared their thoughts and experiences.
During the visit, students observed traffic monitoring procedures and appreciated the services provided to the public, especially in terms of licensing and administrative processes. They also offered constructive suggestions to improve service delivery.
At the conclusion of the visit, participants praised the initiative taken by the Inspector General of Punjab Police, calling it a positive step toward bridging the communication gap between the police and the public. They expressed hope that such engagements would help foster mutual trust and cooperation between citizens and law enforcement agencies.
