Islamabad (By Ehsan Bukhari) :
A major revelation has surfaced regarding the deliberate reduction of gas pressure across the country, allegedly in collusion between the Sui Gas Department and private LNG/LPG gas companies. It has been disclosed that the gas supply is being intentionally disrupted to benefit these private companies.

This came to light when residents of the Jhammarah area in Rawalpindi caught a Sui Gas department employee red-handed while he was shutting off the gas supply. When questioned, the employee claimed he was acting on the instructions of higher officials who had ordered the gas to be shut down.

The incident didn’t end there. The very next day, the same employee, accompanied by private workers, reportedly returned to shut off the gas again but was once again intercepted by residents. The matter escalated to the local police station.

General Manager (GM) Sui Gas Rawalpindi, Masam, took notice of the issue and demanded a detailed report from the Chief Engineer, Sajad.

In an interview with Capital News Point, residents of Jhammarah expressed their frustration, stating that the gas is regularly turned off around 1 PM, forcing them to go to work without breakfast. They claimed they are being compelled to purchase gas cylinders due to this ongoing issue.

Residents further alleged that GM Sui Gas Rawalpindi and the Chief Engineer are in collusion with private cylinder-selling companies, intentionally cutting off the gas supply to benefit these businesses. They pointed out that while VIP areas in Rawalpindi and Islamabad continue to receive uninterrupted gas with good pressure, densely populated public areas like Banni, Asghar Mall, Mohanpura, Arjun Nagar, Kashmiri Bazaar, Railway Scheme-3, and others are severely affected.

They also claimed this isn’t limited to Rawalpindi-Islamabad but is happening nationwide.

Upon contacting GM Gas Rawalpindi Masam, he confirmed that he had ordered an investigation and sought a report from Chief Engineer Rawalpindi, Sajad. In his statement to Capital News Point, Chief Engineer Sajad claimed that the individuals involved were not official employees and that an investigation had been launched. He also assured that action would be taken against those found guilty. He added that there is no official gas load-shedding schedule from their side and questioned who exactly is carrying out these gas shutdowns.
