Preparations are in full swing in Beijing for a grand military parade on September 3 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of China’s victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. The event will showcase the latest advancements in China’s military technology and celebrate the resilience of the Chinese people during one of the most challenging periods in the country’s history.
According to China Global Television Network (CGTN), the parade will feature active-duty members of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and highlight domestically developed military hardware. It will be the first large-scale public display of a new generation of PLA weaponry since the 2019 National Day parade.
At a recent press conference, Wu Qian, a senior official from the Joint Staff Department of the Central Military Commission, announced that the parade will exclusively exhibit Chinese-made, active-duty combat equipment. He stated that the showcased systems would highlight several significant advancements.
Firstly, the parade formations are centered around fourth-generation modern combat systems. These include next-generation tanks, carrier-based aircraft, and advanced fighter jets, all arranged in combat modules that demonstrate the PLA’s enhanced capacity for integrated joint operations.
Secondly, the event will present an array of cutting-edge technologies, including land, naval, and aerial unmanned intelligent systems, along with counter-drone devices and cyber-electronic warfare units. Highlights will include the latest unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), directed energy weapons, and advanced electronic warfare systems, reflecting the PLA’s expanding capabilities in emerging warfare domains.
Thirdly, the display will feature hypersonic weapons, air and missile defense systems, and a range of strategic missile assets. These systems underline China’s growing strategic deterrence power and technological sophistication.
Of particular note, the weapon systems on display will demonstrate significant advancements in intelligence and information processing, showcasing the PLA’s ability to adapt to technological evolution and modernize its warfare approach in preparation for future conflicts.
The parade is expected to be a powerful statement of China’s military progress and its readiness to safeguard national sovereignty and security in an increasingly complex global landscape.
