Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Sehar Kamran has said that under the leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the Sindh government, historic and impactful steps were taken for the rehabilitation of people affected by the devastating 2022 floods.

Speaking on the issue, Kamran emphasized that the Sindh government not only provided immediate relief and rehabilitation to the flood victims but also launched a visionary initiative for the construction of 2.1 million climate-resilient houses, keeping future climate challenges in mind.

“We witnessed with our own eyes how crops and homes were submerged under six feet of water,” she said. “Yet, the affected communities were given a second chance at life. They were supported to regrow crops and restart their lives.”

Kamran stressed that the initiative was not just a temporary response, but part of a long-term policy to better protect citizens against future natural disasters.

She further stated, “This is not a time for political point-scoring but a moment to acknowledge facts. From parliamentary debates to committee meetings, we made decisions that gave people hope and support.”

In a clear message to opposition parties, Kamran added, “If a political party chooses to stay outside parliament, that is their own strategy. But serving the people is far more effective from within the institutions.”

The PPP leader reiterated her party’s commitment to people-centered governance and disaster resilience, calling it a model for responsible leadership in times of crisis.
