Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Inaugurates Pakistan’s First English-Language Digital News Channel “PTV Digital”

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated Pakistan Television’s newly established English-language digital channel, “PTV Digital”, on Wednesday, marking a significant step toward enhancing Pakistan’s global media outreach.

During his visit to the PTV headquarters, the Prime Minister unveiled the inauguration plaque and officially launched the channel’s broadcasts. He was accompanied by Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Federal Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Ambreen Jan, and other senior officials.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Wing, the Premier toured various sections of the digital facility and interacted with the young professionals working there. He praised their enthusiasm and highlighted the importance of their role in countering external narratives against Pakistan.

“The launch of PTV Digital is aimed at providing consistent, factual news and serving as a robust response to misinformation and propaganda against Pakistan,” said the Prime Minister. He also recorded the first official interview for the newly launched channel.

Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister Attaullah Tarar briefed the Prime Minister on the objectives and vision of the platform. He stated that PTV Digital will serve as an authentic and proactive voice of Pakistan to international audiences, functioning as a dedicated English-language platform for public diplomacy and fact-based reporting.

“This channel will enable Pakistan to communicate its narrative directly to the world, delivering first-hand updates and perspectives,” the Minister added. He emphasized that PTV Digital will highlight Pakistan’s stance on critical issues such as international affairs, cultural diversity, and economic development.Tarar further explained that the channel aims to streamline domestic reporting, while building partnerships with a global network of freelancers and reputed international wire services like Reuters and Associated Press, to ensure timely, verified, and high-quality content.

He also pointed out that PTV Digital will play a key role in challenging the one-sided narratives often propagated by regional media influenced by Western and Indian perspectives.

“PTV Digital is not just a news channel — it’s a strategic media hub designed to project Pakistan’s point of view globally,” the Minister concluded.
