The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has announced that no celebrations or cake-cutting ceremonies will be held on the birthday of party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on September 21, 2025. Instead, the day will be dedicated to collecting donations and providing relief to those affected by the ongoing floods across the country.
According to a statement issued by the PPP Media Cell on Wednesday, the decision was made on the direct instructions of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who emphasized that celebrations are inappropriate during a time of national crisis.
The country is currently facing severe flooding, which has left thousands of people struggling with displacement, destruction, and hardship. In light of this humanitarian emergency, the party has decided to turn Bilawal’s birthday into a day of solidarity and service.
PPP workers, known as “Jiyalas,” have already been actively involved in relief activities nationwide. On September 21, they will intensify their efforts by collecting donations through self-help initiatives and delivering direct assistance to flood-affected communities.
The party leadership has directed all its office-bearers and members across Pakistan to forego traditional birthday festivities and instead channel their energy into helping those in need.
“The greatest responsibility at this moment is to stand with our affected brothers and sisters rather than celebrate,” the statement read, adding that the gesture reflects the party’s long-standing commitment to the people of Pakistan, especially in times of crisis.
