The Foreign Office spokesperson has confirmed that all Pakistani nationals, along with the entire crew onboard an LPG tanker stranded off the coast of Yemen, are safe and sound. The LPG tanker departed from the port on Saturday and is now exiting Yemeni waters.
In a statement issued from Islamabad, the spokesperson said the tanker caught fire near Yemen’s coast on September 17. The vessel was carrying a multinational crew, including 24 Pakistani citizens.
Upon receiving news of the incident, Pakistani diplomatic missions immediately contacted Yemeni authorities to ensure the safety of the crew and facilitated efforts to get the tanker operational again.
The spokesperson added that the diplomatic missions remained in close contact with the families of the Pakistani crew members, keeping them updated on the situation.
Today, the LPG tanker has left the port and is safely moving out of Yemeni waters, with all crew members, including Pakistanis, confirmed to be unharmed.
