Federal Minister for National Health Services, Syed Mustafa Kamal, has emphasized that coordinated and effective measures are being ensured to control the spread of dengue across the country. He noted that special initiatives are being implemented in affected areas, particularly following the recent rainfall which has led to a surge in dengue cases.
The minister made these remarks during a high-level meeting held to review the current dengue situation. The meeting included briefings on the spread of the virus in Islamabad and other affected areas, the number of reported cases, and the ongoing containment efforts.
Kamal directed that anti-dengue campaigns be intensified and made more effective. He ordered the allocation of separate wards for dengue patients in hospitals and emphasized the availability of medicines, beds, and diagnostic facilities.
In particular, he highlighted the need for enhanced surveillance in the Bara Kahu area of Islamabad and instructed that fumigation, preventive measures, and public awareness campaigns be accelerated. He also urged district authorities to play a more active role in improving sanitation systems.
“The public must follow the Ministry of Health’s dengue prevention guidelines,” the minister said, adding that the media and civil society have a key role to play in combating the disease.
Syed Mustafa Kamal reaffirmed that protecting public health remains the government’s top priority and pledged that all necessary resources will be utilized to safeguard citizens from epidemics and diseases.
The meeting was attended by the Federal Health Secretary, Additional Secretary, Director General Health, Joint Secretary Health, and the District Health Officer (DHO) Islamabad.
