The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) have agreed to further strengthen their collaboration to enhance the health and nutrition of women and children across Pakistan.
This commitment was reaffirmed during a meeting held on Tuesday between BISP Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid and UNICEF’s newly appointed Country Representative, Pernille Ironside, at the BISP headquarters in Islamabad.
Senator Rubina Khalid highlighted UNICEF’s critical role as a key partner in the Benazir Nashonuma Programme – BISP’s flagship initiative aimed at addressing malnutrition among women and children across the country.
She emphasized the need to increase awareness about the programme so that more eligible families can benefit from its services. “Greater outreach and communication are essential to ensure that no deserving family is left behind,” she stated.
The BISP Chairperson noted that collaborative efforts between BISP and UNICEF are crucial for effectively addressing health and nutrition challenges and for promoting the well-being of vulnerable communities.
UNICEF Representative Pernille Ironside commended BISP’s efforts in supporting underprivileged families and reaffirmed UNICEF’s continued commitment to work closely with BISP in future initiatives.
