Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has termed the recent statement by Hamas a “ray of hope” for a possible ceasefire in Gaza, expressing Pakistan’s continued commitment to work alongside friendly and brotherly nations for lasting peace in Palestine.
In a message posted on social media platform X on Saturday, the Prime Minister stated, “Since the beginning of the genocide of the Palestinian people, today—Alhamdulillah—we are the closest we have ever been to a ceasefire.”
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, saying the country has always stood by the people of Palestine and will continue to do so.
Prime Minister Sharif also extended his gratitude to the leadership of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Türkiye, Jordan, Egypt, and Indonesia, for their diplomatic efforts towards resolving the Palestinian issue. He especially acknowledged their engagement with President Trump during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, aimed at building international consensus for peace.
“The statement issued by Hamas provides a clear path toward ensuring peace and must not be allowed to slip away,” the Prime Minister stressed. He concluded by reiterating Pakistan’s commitment: “Insha’Allah, Pakistan will continue to work with all its friendly and brotherly nations to achieve lasting peace in Palestine.”
