Pakistan has issued a sharp warning to India over what Islamabad called “misleading, provocative and bellicose” statements from elements within the Indian security establishment, saying such rhetoric risks serious consequences for peace and stability in South Asia.
In a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan expressed deep concern that the Indian remarks amount to irresponsible attempts to manufacture pretexts for aggression. The ISPR cautioned that continued inflammatory rhetoric could be a precursor to actions that endanger regional stability and have grave repercussions.
The statement criticized India for, in Pakistan’s view, projecting itself as a victim while fueling violence and instability across the region. It added that Indian actions earlier this year had brought two nuclear-armed states to the brink of a major confrontation.
Pakistan’s military warning reiterated that Islamabad remembers Indian losses — including aircraft wreckage — and the country’s capability to strike at long range. The ISPR warned that provocative statements by India’s defence leadership, army and air chiefs could push the region toward a dangerous escalation. It said any new act of aggression would be met with a “full, decisive response” without hesitation.
The statement stressed Pakistan’s readiness and resolve: its armed forces and population, it said, possess the capability and determination to counter any Indian aggression. Pakistan called out what it described as India’s “illusion of geographic safety,” and warned that Pakistan could strike even distant targets on Indian soil if necessary. The ISPR concluded by saying that talk of eliminating Pakistan would bring equal consequences for both sides should conflict erupt.
While underscoring its deterrent capabilities, the statement also served as a diplomatic warning aimed at preventing any further escalation between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
