In a landmark move toward financial transparency and efficiency, Pakistan Railways and the National Police Foundation have signed a historic agreement to fully digitize the revenue collection system of Pakistan Railways. A formal ceremony was held in Islamabad to mark the occasion, attended by Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, senior railway officials, and representatives from the National Police Foundation.

Under this agreement, all revenue sources of Pakistan Railways will be integrated into a digital platform aimed at ensuring faster, more transparent, and efficient financial management.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi stated that under the new system, the State Bank of Pakistan and 1LINK will transfer railway revenues directly to the national treasury three times a day. He described this as a prime example of modern financial discipline. He further highlighted that 1LINK, a consortium of 40 banks, will link financial institutions nationwide through an integrated system.

Through this digital initiative, passengers will now be able to purchase tickets conveniently via ATMs, mobile apps, internet banking, bank branches, NADRA e-Sahulat centers, debit cards, and QR codes. Minister Abbasi termed this step a milestone in the history of Pakistan Railways and a true embodiment of the Prime Minister’s vision of a cashless economy. He added that the cashless system would make payments more transparent, efficient, and faster.

The Chairman of Pakistan Railways expressed that this initiative is a significant step toward aligning the organization with modern standards, which will greatly enhance its financial performance. The project is being implemented with the support of the National Police Foundation, State Bank of Pakistan, 1LINK, and FinNet, marking a major stride toward providing modern facilities to the public.

Minister Abbasi expressed confidence that this new digital system will not only enhance transparency but also ensure a better and more convenient ticketing experience for the public.
