Participants of the 272nd Corps Commanders Conference, chaired by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi, pledged a swift and crushing response to any act of Indian aggression and reviewed ongoing counter‑terrorism operations and operational preparedness.
The conference opened with a fateha for those martyred in recent cross‑border incidents, the military said, and Field Marshal Munir praised the commitment, morale and courage of the Pakistan Army in fighting foreign‑sponsored terrorist groups. The forum also commended the armed forces’ role in relief operations alongside civilian authorities following recent floods.
A comprehensive assessment was carried out of counter‑terrorism operations, emerging threats and operational readiness. Participants said the armed forces remain ready at all times to frustrate hostile designs against Pakistan in every domain.
The conference criticized what it described as a nexus between terrorism and crime that, it said, receives patronage for narrow political ends. Delegates warned that this alliance severely undermines state interests and public safety and must not be allowed to continue.
Expressing deep concern over recent “irresponsible, gratuitous and provocative” statements by Indian civilian and military leaders, the forum said such rhetoric fuels war‑mania for political purposes and risks raising regional tensions. The commanders warned that unfounded war talk and deliberate provocation would heighten insecurity in the region and that any Indian aggression would be met with an immediate, strong and decisive reply. They added that any perceived geographic advantage would be negated and that any imagined “new normal” of aggression would be countered by a new, responsive “new normal” from Pakistan.
The conference affirmed continuation of comprehensive counter‑terrorism operations across all theatres and reiterated a determination to eliminate India‑backed terrorist networks — named in the briefing as Fitna al‑Khawarij and Fitna al‑Hindustan.
Commanders welcomed the historic strategic mutual‑defence agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, saying the pact will deepen strategic ties and promote cooperation across multiple sectors. They described the agreement as reflecting mutual confidence, respect and a shared vision for peace and security in the Middle East and South Asia.
The forum reiterated unflinching support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self‑determination and restated Pakistan’s principled support for the legitimate cause of the Palestinian people. Delegates reiterated Pakistan’s position that a viable solution to the Palestine issue lies in a two‑state formula based on pre‑1967 borders with Al Quds (Jerusalem) as the capital of a sovereign Palestinian state, and expressed hope for an early ceasefire and humanitarian access to Gaza.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir stressed high standards of operational preparedness, discipline, physical fitness, innovation and rapid response, directing that the Pakistan Army remain fully prepared to meet all threats effectively.
