Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday praised Pakistan’s security forces for a successful operation in Orakzai District that, according to the government, eliminated 19 militants described in an official statement as “Indian-supported” members of the group Fitna al-Khawarij.
In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office media wing, the prime minister paid tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the armed forces and expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of several soldiers, including Lieutenant Colonel Junaid Tariq and Major Tayyab Rahat, who were martyred during the operation.
The prime minister offered prayers for the departed and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families, asking for patience and steadfastness for the loved ones left behind. He vowed that the sacrifices of the security forces would not be in vain and pledged that the state would frustrate hostile designs aimed at undermining Pakistan’s sovereignty.
“We will not allow those who seek to harm Pakistan’s integrity to succeed,” the statement quoted Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif as saying, adding that the government remained determined to rid the country of the menace of terrorism.
