Islamabad (Staff Reporter):
Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) has launched its “Aqsa March” from Lahore in solidarity with the Palestinian people. In response, security forces have sealed major entry and exit routes to Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and other parts of Punjab by placing containers and deploying heavy personnel, leading to widespread disruption for commuters.
TLP had earlier announced that the purpose of the march was to express support for oppressed Palestinians and to protest in front of the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad. The march’s commencement in Lahore led to clashes between police and TLP workers, during which police resorted to tear gas. Despite this, thousands of TLP supporters broke through security barriers and are now en route to the federal capital.
Following directives from Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Punjab’s Law Minister, security in Islamabad has been significantly intensified. Containers have been placed at all major entry points of the capital, effectively sealing off the city. Partial internet shutdowns have been reported in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and other cities as a preventive measure.

The blockade of motorways, GT Road, and other main highways has severely impacted daily life. Citizens traveling to schools, hospitals, and workplaces are facing extreme difficulties, and commercial activities have also been affected.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister of State Talal Chaudhry visited Faizabad late at night to inspect the security arrangements. According to the Ministry of Interior, the minister met with Islamabad Police and Federal Constabulary personnel deployed on duty, shook hands with them individually, and appreciated their dedication.
He also inquired about the availability of food and water for the personnel and instructed the Islamabad IG to ensure proper welfare for all deployed forces. “You are the soldiers of Pakistan and are playing a key role in maintaining the rule of law,” the minister emphasized.
The government has directed all relevant agencies to remain on high alert to handle any untoward situation as TLP’s protest march gains momentum.
